Why does voldemort want to kill harry if harry is one of his horcruxes?
Voldemort is considered a great villain among all the villains in the cinema. He killed a lot of people that do not align with his thoughts in the Harry Potter series. But why did Voldemort want to kill Harry Potter? This is because of the Prophecy revelation that a boy will be born with great powers that Voldemort cannot understand. He will finish Voldemort’s rule.
Now, let us get deep into this theory and why did he choose Harry Potter over Neville who also had a prophecy revelation. Furthermore, why Voldemort killed Harry’s parents.
Why did Voldemort want to kill Harry?
The story started in 1980 when Sybil Trelawney, a female teacher, appeared at Hogwarts for an interview for the post of Divination professor. The principal of Hogwarts interviewed her, but Sybil could not impress the principal during the interview. But before she left, Sybil Trelawneyprophesied that in July of 1980, a kid will be born that will finish the rule of Lord Voldemort.
She further said that that child will have special qualities and powers that will help him to defeat Voldemort. In addition, she claimed that the parents of that kid would have denied that lord 3 times and then that kid will have the powers that Voldemort would have not thought about.
The words of that prophecy were “The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches… born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives… the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies…”
After listening to these words from Sybil, the principal of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore believed this prophecy and said it is true. Therefore, he hired him for the position of Divination professor. The principal was more concerned for his safety and hired Sybil for his safety instead of using his antics as a Divination professor.
How did Voldemort know about the Prophecy?
When this whole conversation was going on, Aberforth Dumbledore caught Snape. Aberforth himself was listening to the prophecy. He quickly reached the Lord’s place and told him all he listened to in Howart’s principal office. Later, Dark Lord started to find out the person who met those conditions that Sybil told.
He found that there were two kids that met that criteria. One of the kids’ names was Neville, whose parents were Alice Longbottom and Aurors. The other kid was Harry who was born to Jame Potter and Lily. The date of birth of Neville was July 30, 1980, and Harry’s date of birth was July 31, 1980.
When Voldemort came to know about these kids, he decided to kill them. Now, you understand why did Voldemort want to kill Harry and Neville. Actually, the lord became very worried after listening to that prophecy. He wanted to remove any danger that could not pose a threat to his kingdom and rule.
Powers that Harry and Voldemort were Jealous of:
When Voldemort tried to kill Harry when he was a kid, Harry’s mother saved him. But when she sacrificed her life for Harry, the curse attacked Lord Voldemort. Usually, people thought that it was the power of love that Harry got from his mother. This power was impossible for Voldemort to understand.
There are certain theories that claim that Harry Potter had Old age magic. This magic was a superpower that Lord was unaware of and this power ultimately led him to victory against Voldemort. Furthermore, when his mother died, the curse that attacked Voldemort, destroyed his body. During this destruction, a part of his body attached to Harry’s body. This actually became a power that protected him from the Lord’s various attacks.
Why did Voldemort choose Harry Potter over Neville?
At the start, Voldemort was behind Neville who met the criteria like his parents had defied the Dark lord thrice. Furthermore, he was born at the end of July 1980. Therefore, Voldemort decided to kill him first. But he twisted Harry first after knowing his race. He came to know that Harry and Ton are half-bloods. Now if you wonder why did Voldemort want to kill Harry because he came to know the reality.
From here he understood that Neville was pure blood and he was not the danger that Voldemort was looking for. Now, his focus shifted from Neville to Harry Potter. The Dark Lord understood that Harry was the kid with that special powers and he was a real danger to his rule and kingdom.
How did Voldemort end up killing the parents of Harry Potter?
After knowing about Harry Potter’s reality, Voldemort started to find his home. Soon, he discovered Harry’s home and attacked their location. During this attack, Voldemort killed both the parents of Harry Potter, James Potter, and Lily Potter.
Lily Potter sacrifices her life for the sake of her child. Now, Voldemort stepped in to kill Harry but due to killing Harry’s mother, his curse attacked him. During this attack, a scar was left on the head of Harry Potter at a very young age.
